Manufacturers tack on all sorts of fees at the return of a lease; wear and tear, mileage, cosmetic damage to exterior or interior. As a detailer, I've never once paid any such fees as my vehicles were always returned in pristine condition! Even with a minor paint scuff to a rear fender and curb rash to 2 of the 4 wheels, those small imperfections were simply overlooked due to the exceptional condition of the paint and interior.
